Fatal Minneapolis shooting death of Benjamin Haggray – Obituary.
Authorities have confirmed the identities of two individuals who were killed during a mass shooting in downtown Minneapolis on Saturday, which also resulted in injuries to three others. Benjamin Haggray, 20, from Georgia, and Lunden Marcel Woodberry, 21, a resident of Minneapolis, both lost their lives as gunfire erupted amid a confrontation at the intersection of North 5th Street and Hennepin Avenue.
When officers arrived at the scene in response to reports of the altercation, they heard gunshots. Upon their arrival, they discovered five individuals injured, all of whom were subsequently transported to Hennepin County Medical Center. Unfortunately, Haggray and Woodberry succumbed to their wounds shortly thereafter.
Among the injured were two girls, aged 16 and 17, as well as a 23-year-old woman, all of whom sustained non-life-threatening gunshot injuries. Authorities have yet to disclose their names.
Investigators recovered a firearm and additional evidence from the scene after conducting a thorough search of the area. A 25-year-old man was arrested on probable cause related to riot charges, but as of Monday afternoon, no further arrests have been made.
“MPD investigators will work tirelessly to bring whoever is responsible for this tragic incident to justice,” stated MPD Chief Brian O’Hara. “We will continue with our late-night safety plan and collaborate with both law enforcement and community partners to improve safety for all.”
This incident follows a tragic event from the previous week, where a girl was killed and five others were injured after a woman drove into a crowd following a dispute at the same location.
