KILLEEN, Texas – Authorities have confirmed the identity of the victim in Killeen’s 17th homicide of 2024 as 22-year-old Dirkshawn Bryan, Jr. The incident unfolded early Sunday morning when police received reports of gunfire in the 2200 block of Wheeler Avenue at around 12:39 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered Bryan lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds. They immediately began life-saving efforts until paramedics arrived, but unfortunately, Bryan did not survive his injuries.
Justice of the Peace Nicola James pronounced Bryan dead at 12:48 a.m. and has ordered an autopsy to be conducted at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas. Law enforcement officials have stated that there is no ongoing threat to the community connected to this incident.
