A 48-year-old man from Channahon, Louis Mau, tragically died on Monday at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Joliet. His body was discovered in the parking lot of the hospital.

According to Will County Coroner Laurie Summers, Mau’s death is being investigated as a fall from a height. He was declared dead at 5:58 p.m. in the loading dock area of the facility after an apparent fall, as confirmed by the coroner.

Joliet police spokesperson Dwayne English stated that the man leaped to his death from the top of the parking garage at Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center on Monday afternoon. “This incident has been ruled a suicide, and no suspicious circumstances have been found,” English noted.

In a press release on Tuesday, Summers informed that the Joliet Police Department is looking into the incident, and an autopsy was conducted the same day. The final determination of the cause and manner of death will depend on the autopsy findings, as well as police and toxicology reports, she added.
