The Allen County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identities of the human remains located in the St. Marys River on September 20. The victims are identified as 40-year-old Christina Michelle Dixon and 41-year-old Matthew Joseph Johnson, both hailing from Connersville. According to Indiana State Police, the two were last seen on September 19 and were reported missing to the Richmond Police Department shortly thereafter.
On Tuesday, the coroner’s office reported that Dixon died from strangulation and suffocation, while Johnson’s death resulted from gunshot wounds and stabbing. Both fatalities have been classified as homicides, marking the 33rd and 34th homicides recorded in Allen County this year.
