Ralph Jamieson dies in fatal Hilton Head Island drowning incident
Fatal Hilton Head Island drowning death of Ralph Jamieson – Obituary.
The coroner has confirmed the identities of two individuals who tragically drowned on Friday at Hilton Head Island. The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office reported that the first incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. near Dune Lane, claiming the life of Ralph Jamieson, 66, from South Euclid, Ohio.
A few hours later, another drowning incident took place. Hilton Head Island Fire Rescue was called to the scene at beach marker 92 in Palmetto Dunes around 3:19 p.m. The victim in this second incident has been identified as Leonard Schenz, 73, from Loveland, Ohio. It appears he was caught in a rip current.
These incidents coincided with an increased risk of rip currents along the coast due to Hurricane Ernesto.
