Fatal Fort Wayne shooting death of Christina Michelle Dixon – Obituary.
The Allen County Coroner has confirmed the identities of two individuals whose remains were discovered in the St. Marys River. On Tuesday, the coroner identified them as 40-year-old Christina Michelle Dixon and 41-year-old Matthew Joseph Johnson, both hailing from Connersville, located east of Indianapolis.
The coroner classified their deaths as homicides. The remains were located on Friday afternoon by volunteers conducting a cleanup of the river near Guldlin Park, just outside downtown Fort Wayne.
According to the coroner’s report, Dixon’s cause of death was determined to be strangulation and suffocation, while Johnson succumbed to a combination of a gunshot wound and a stab wound.
Both individuals were reported missing as of September 19, according to a missing persons bulletin issued by the Indiana State Police, filed by the Richmond Police Department. The circumstances surrounding how their remains came to be in the river remain unknown, and no suspects have been identified at this time.
