Fatal Washtenaw County crash death of Brielle Nautica Braddock – Obituary.

On the morning of Wednesday, September 18, 2024, a tragic incident occurred on M-14 at the eastbound entrance near Gotfredson Road around 8:00 a.m. Two of the three victims from a wrong-way collision have been identified.

Brielle Nautica Braddock, 27, and Kerell Dale Burch, 31, both from Battle Creek, were confirmed deceased in the crash that took place around 7:20 a.m. according to Lieutenant Rene Gonzalez from the Michigan State Police. The identity of the third victim, a 53-year-old male from Munith, remains undisclosed as the police have not released his name.

Braddock was a mother of four and a dedicated healthcare professional, as noted in an obituary by Baxter Funeral and Cremation Service. Her obituary described her as someone whose positive energy touched everyone she met, highlighting her genuine and warm-hearted nature.

Burch, who was a father of seven, had experience in both the automotive and construction sectors. His obituary reflected on his fun-loving spirit and his ability to connect with others, emphasizing his desire to help those around him.

A GoFundMe campaign supporting Braddock’s family indicated that the two were in a romantic relationship. On the day of the crash, Burch was driving a 2024 Nissan Rogue when he collided head-on with a Tesla after driving in the wrong direction on eastbound M-14, exiting onto the eastbound entrance ramp near Gotfredson Road in Salem Township, close to the Wayne County boundary.

The collision resulted in a fire engulfing the Tesla. Emergency crews from the Salem Township Fire Department were able to extract the man inside the Tesla before it was completely consumed by flames, but he was already deceased by the time they reached him.

The blaze was left to burn out due to the difficulties in extinguishing it, as Chief Jim Rachwal explained that the batteries in electric vehicles complicate firefighting efforts.

Responding to the scene were units from the Salem Township Fire Department, state police, and emergency services from surrounding townships, among others.
