Fatal Milford stabbing death of Rose Lourdes Gerson Garcon – Obituary
The Milford Police Department has identified Rose Lourdes Gerson Garcon, 50, as the victim of a fatal stabbing allegedly carried out by her roommate, Edouard Risch Oldens, 18, on Lakeview Avenue. Garcon and Oldens lived together in the 400 block of Lakeview, and Oldens has been arrested for her murder.
On September 22, officers were dispatched to North Church Street following a mental health call involving Oldens. During the encounter, Oldens confessed to the officers that he had killed someone, claiming that voices in his head had directed him to commit the act. Authorities then went to the residence on Lakeview Avenue, where they discovered Garcon’s body.
In accordance with Milford Police Department policy, the victim’s identity was withheld until her next of kin could be notified. The delay occurred because Garcon’s family had to travel from outside the United States for the notification, which was made in person.
Police clarified that Garcon and Oldens were not related but were simply roommates. The medical examiner later confirmed that Garcon’s death was due to homicide by stabbing, a detail that was not released until officially determined.
Oldens has been charged with first-degree murder and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony. Following a preliminary court appearance, his bail was set at $680,000 in cash. His next hearing will take place at the Sussex County Court of Common Pleas.
