Ireland Ehrfurth, an 11-year-old girl, tragically lost her life after being hit by a vehicle while riding her bicycle. The incident took place around 6 p.m. on Wednesday on Western Avenue, close to the Napa Auto Parts store in Mosinee, Wisconsin.
According to Mosinee Police, a pick-up truck driven by a 54-year-old man from Kronenwetter was heading west on Western Avenue. As he approached the intersection with Willow Street, Ehrfurth, who was biking northbound, was struck by the vehicle as she entered the intersection.
Authorities confirmed that the driver cooperated fully with the investigation and was not taken into custody. They also stated that neither speed nor alcohol played a role in the crash.
The crash led to the temporary closure of both lanes on Western Avenue, with the road reopening just before 1 a.m. Thursday. Ehrfurth was a student at Mosinee Middle School.
