The 77-year-old man who passed away following a collision east of downtown Fort Wayne over the weekend has been named. On Tuesday, the Allen County Coroner confirmed the identity of the deceased as Charlie Morris Jr., a resident of Fort Wayne.
Morris was involved in a two-car accident that occurred on Saturday at the intersection of Maumee and Grant avenues. Authorities found him trapped inside a Dodge Charger at the scene, and he was declared dead by emergency medical personnel at a nearby hospital.
An autopsy revealed that Morris succumbed to multiple blunt force injuries, and his death has been classified as accidental.
In addition, another individual was discovered on the ground beside a Hyundai Elantra and was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
Investigators suspect that excessive speed may have contributed to the crash, which remains under investigation.
