In Georgetown, Kentucky, a reported homicide investigation is underway following a shooting incident that occurred Thursday night. Authorities from the Georgetown Police Department responded to reports of gunfire around 10 p.m. in the 300 block of East Washington Street, where they discovered Michael Watson with a gunshot wound. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, Watson succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The police have confirmed the arrest of 26-year-old Diamond Miller in connection with the shooting. Miller was apprehended at a home on Scroggins Park Drive and is now facing charges of first-degree murder after being booked into the Scott County Detention Center.
While the specific motive for the shooting is still under investigation, authorities have not determined if there was any prior relationship between Watson and the suspect. The Georgetown Police Department expressed their condolences, stating, “Our hearts go out to Michael Watson’s family and friends as they cope with this devastating loss. No family should ever have to experience such pain.”
Miller is scheduled to appear in court at 1 p.m. on October 1.
