The Phoenix Police Department is seeking assistance from the public to locate a suspect connected to a deadly hit-and-run that occurred on Thursday evening. The accident took place near 19th Avenue and Roosevelt Street just before 5:30 p.m.
According to authorities, five vehicles were involved in the crash, and one of the drivers fled the scene prior to police arrival. Officers found 67-year-old Enrique Cortez, a passenger in one of the vehicles, suffering from serious injuries. He was transported to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead by medical staff shortly after arrival.
In addition to Cortez, four other individuals sustained injuries in the incident. Emergency responders from the Phoenix Fire and Medical Department treated the injured parties, which included two adults and two minors. Their injuries were reported to be non-life-threatening, and they were taken to the hospital for further care.
