A man fatally shot outside a convenience store early on September 26 has been identified by the Pueblo County Coroner’s Office. The victim, 56-year-old Nicholas Edward Grace, was found in the parking lot of the Loaf N’ Jug located at 1104 Pueblo Blvd. Way. Authorities have yet to make any arrests in connection with the incident.
Pueblo police officials informed the Chieftain on September 26 that initial reports indicated the shooting might have been related to an attempted carjacking. Bianca Hicks, Community Engagement Manager for the Pueblo Police Department, stated on Friday that investigators are prioritizing the case, although they cannot yet confirm whether the shooting was indeed linked to a carjacking.
Officers responded to a panic alarm and potential shooting at the convenience store shortly after 3 a.m. on Thursday. Upon arrival, they discovered Grace’s lifeless body in the parking area, suffering from gunshot wounds.
This incident marks the 16th homicide in Pueblo for the year 2024, following a total of 26 homicides recorded in the city in 2023.
