Authorities have confirmed that 41-year-old Joshua Arnold was the second person killed in a deadly shooting that also claimed the life of Deputy Josh Phipps in Russell Springs, Kentucky. The exchange of gunfire occurred Monday evening in a mobile home park on Bluebird Lane.
Deputy Phipps, 38, who had served with the sheriff’s office for three years, was shot while searching for a suspect who had fled the scene. Once located, an exchange of gunfire ensued, leading to the deaths of both Arnold and Phipps.
Arnold, according to court records, was a fugitive with an outstanding failure to appear warrant in Russell County, tied to charges including drug offenses, menacing, resisting arrest, and tampering with evidence. He also faced charges in Adair County for drug-related crimes, resisting arrest, and public intoxication.
