Eighteen-year-old Randall E. Glass from Oak Lawn, Illinois, has been identified as the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred early Sunday morning near the Illinois State University campus. Glass suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead after being transported to the hospital.
Another 18-year-old male was also injured in the incident and remains in critical condition. The shooting took place around 3:45 a.m. as police responded to a large gathering in the area of the 300 block of North Main Street. Officers reported hearing gunfire while they were attempting to disperse the crowd.
According to authorities, a “pop-up party” of over 1,000 attendees, which was not officially organized or sanctioned by the university, had started in a local park before moving to a nearby gas station. The university police expressed concerns over such gatherings, stating that they can lead to violence and disrupt the community. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact the Normal Police Department.
