Fatal Easton crash death of Mario Licona and Florence Mahoney – Obituary.
A man and a woman tragically lost their lives in a fiery head-on collision on Route 58 in Easton on Saturday night. The victims have been identified as 58-year-old Mario Licona from Bridgeport and 87-year-old Florence Mahoney from Redding.
The crash occurred around 7:40 p.m., prompting police to respond to the scene just south of Center Street. Upon arrival, officers found one vehicle engulfed in flames and the other severely damaged. Licona was the sole occupant of one car and was pronounced dead at the scene. Mahoney, the only occupant of the second vehicle, was rushed to Saint Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Route 58, also known as Black Rock Turnpike, was closed between Center and Norton Roads until Sunday morning as investigators examined the crash site. The Fairfield Police Crash Investigation Unit is currently looking into the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
