Randy Johnson dies in fatal Rockford, Illinois shooting near liquor store
Fatal Rockford shooting death of Randy Johnson – Obituary.
Randy Johnson, a 30-year-old man, was shot and killed around 10 p.m. on September 28 near MaxMart Liquor Store on Kilburn Avenue in Rockford, according to the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office. Another man, aged 34, was also injured in the shooting.
Police say that Murphy Doss, 51, is facing multiple charges, including first-degree murder, attempted murder, and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon. Witnesses reported that an argument occurred before Doss allegedly shot both men and fled the scene. Johnson later succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.
Doss was arrested after authorities found his vehicle at the Belvidere Oasis with a gun and ammunition inside. He is currently in custody at the Winnebago County Jail.
