Mario Licona dies in fatal Easton car crash
Fatal Easton car crash death of Mario Licona – Obituary.
On Saturday night, a man and woman lost their lives in a devastating head-on collision on Route 58, according to the police. The victims were identified as 58-year-old Mario Licona from Bridgeport and 87-year-old Florence Mahoney from Redding.
Police reported that they received notification of the crash at approximately 7:40 p.m. and arrived at the location, just south of Center Street. One vehicle was engulfed in flames, while the other sustained severe damage.
Authorities stated that Licona and Mahoney were the only occupants in their respective vehicles. Licona was declared dead at the scene. Mahoney was rushed to Saint Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Route 58, known as Black Rock Turnpike, remained closed between Center and Norton roads until Sunday morning as investigators continued their work at the crash site.
