Crimea Malita Baker dies in fatal New Market shooting
Fatal New Market shooting death of Crimea Malita Baker – Obituary
Authorities have arrested David Phillip Turner, 33, in connection with the fatal shooting of Crimea Malita Baker and Sean Antoine Lange in New Market, Maryland, on August 25, 2024. Baker, 33, and Lange, 34, were found dead in a home on Mandalong Court, where four children were also present but unharmed.
Sheriff Chuck Jenkins described the incident as a “heinous, targeted double murder—a crime of rage and anger.” The victims suffered a total of 42 gunshot wounds at close range. Investigators believe Turner broke into the residence and committed the murders around 1:30 a.m. before fleeing the scene.
Turner was arrested on a beach in Florida, with assistance from the FBI and local police, and is currently awaiting extradition to Maryland. Friends remembered Baker as an inspiring figure, with one stating, “She was always dancing and smiling and laughing, and she deserved everything good.”
