Jay Cartmell, an eight-year-old boy, tragically passed away after being shot on a farm in the Warcop area of Cumbria. The incident occurred on Saturday, and emergency services were alerted after reports of a child suffering serious injuries from a firearm.
Jay sustained critical head injuries and was airlifted to a nearby hospital, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries later that night. A man in his 60s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. He was later taken into custody on charges of gross negligence manslaughter but has since been released on bail.
