Fatal Great Miami River incident death of Tyrance Bell – Obituary.

Tyrance Bell, 56, was identified after his body was discovered in the Great Miami River in Dayton earlier this month. The Montgomery County Coroner, Dr. Kent Harshbarger, confirmed Bell’s identity, though the cause and manner of his death have yet to be determined.

On September 17, just before 7:30 a.m., a fisherman alerted authorities to the presence of a body in the river near the 600 block of West Monument Avenue. The caller initially mistook the body for a log due to the river’s shallow conditions.

The Dayton Fire Department responded and retrieved the body. According to Mark Hess, Chief of Public Safety for Five Rivers MetroParks, there were no immediate signs of trauma or foul play. It is believed that Bell may have been in the water for several days, but the circumstances surrounding his entry into the river remain unclear.

The incident is still under investigation by Five Rivers Metro Parks.
