Holly King, a 29-year-old special education teacher at Eastern Montgomery High School, has been identified as the victim killed during a storm-related incident in Craig County. The incident occurred on Friday in the 14100 block of Cumberland Gap Road, as confirmed by the county sheriff’s office.
According to a 911 call made by an injured woman at the scene, she reported being at her out-building. When emergency services arrived, they discovered the out-building, identified as a chicken coop, had been overturned. Tragically, they found the caller deceased inside her home.
Darryl Humphreys, the county’s emergency management director, stated that a deputy responding to the incident was struck by flying debris from the chicken coop and suffered significant injuries, necessitating hospitalization. As of Monday, there were no updates on the deputy’s condition.
