Fatal Liberal pedestrian-train collision death of Adam J. Flores and Deanna M. Flores – Obituary.
Authorities have identified the two individuals who tragically lost their lives in a pedestrian-train accident that occurred on Sunday night in Liberal. The victims, Adam J. Flores, 61, and Deanna M. Flores, 42, both hailing from Bangor, Maine, were involved in the incident while crossing the railroad tracks.
The accident happened at approximately 8:05 p.m. just north of the intersection of South Western Avenue and West Pancake Boulevard. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Adam was pushing Deanna, who was in a wheelchair, across the Union Pacific Railroad tracks when the crossing arms were down and the warning signals were active.
Both victims were struck by an oncoming train and were pronounced dead at the scene. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the train’s occupants. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic event is ongoing.
