Fatal Warren crash involving a police vehicle claims the lives of Cedric Hayden and DeJuan Pettis – Obituary.
Officials have confirmed the identities of two men who tragically lost their lives in a collision with a police vehicle in Warren, Michigan. The victims, 34-year-old Cedric Hayden and 33-year-old DeJuan Pettis, were driving a Dodge Durango when the crash occurred at the intersection of Schoenherr Road and Prospect Avenue on Monday.
In addition to the fatalities, two Warren police officers sustained serious injuries in the incident. One officer in the passenger seat suffered critical injuries, including several broken bones and head trauma, and has undergone surgery. Both officers remain hospitalized but are reported to be in stable condition.
The police reported that a business break-in and vehicle pursuit occurred nearby a few hours after the crash; however, Hayden and Pettis are not suspects in those incidents. The Dodge Durango was legally registered to Pettis.
The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office is conducting the investigation into the crash. The Warren Police Department has emphasized their commitment to transparency and accountability during this process and has requested the public’s patience as the investigation continues. The names of the injured officers have not yet been released.
