A hiker discovered the body of 77-year-old Dennis Shaw in Logan Canyon on Friday, September 27, prompting an investigation that led to the arrest of his son, Clayton Shaw, aged 33. The body was found in the Franklin Basin area, situated north of Salt Lake City, as reported by the Cache County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities confirmed that the deceased was Shaw, who had suffered stab wounds to the chest. Investigators believe he was killed elsewhere and then left in a parking lot within the canyon. Following the discovery, Clayton Shaw was arrested on a homicide charge on Saturday, September 28.
According to officials, there had been multiple recent disputes reported between the father and son. The Cache County Sheriff’s Office is urging anyone with further information regarding the case to contact them at 435-755-1100. Logan Canyon is approximately 85 miles northeast of Salt Lake City.
