Fatal accident in Good Hope claims the life of Salima Heeralall – Obituary
A tragic incident occurred in Good Hope, East Coast Demerara, on Sunday morning, leading to the death of a 36-year-old woman identified as Salima Heeralall. The accident happened along the La Bonne Intention Railway embankment when her husband, Prakash Heeralall, was driving a mini-van with Salima as the sole passenger.
At approximately 6:30 a.m., while crossing an intersection, their vehicle was struck by a speeding SUV, driven by Marshall Allicock, a relative of a senior Government official. The impact caused their mini-van to spin out of control and crash into a concrete culvert.
Prakash Heeralall reported hearing his wife cry out in pain after the collision. With assistance from bystanders, both were rushed to Georgetown Hospital for medical attention. Due to the severity of her injuries, Salima was placed in emergency care, while Prakash sought treatment at a private hospital for his broken arm and other injuries.
Sadly, the family received the heartbreaking news early Monday morning that Salima had succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment. The Guyana Police Force has not yet released an official statement, and investigations into the accident are ongoing.
