Fatal Butler County crash death of Shanea L. Brown – Obituary.
A tragic two-vehicle accident on October 1, 2024, claimed the life of 38-year-old Shanea L. Brown from Poplar Bluff, Missouri. The collision occurred around 9:15 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 53 and Highway 142, involving a 1987 Chrysler 5th Avenue and a 2022 Kia Carnival.
According to reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Brown’s Chrysler entered the intersection and collided with the Kia, which was driven by 32-year-old Heather L. Massie, also from Poplar Bluff. Brown, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time, suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center at 10:11 p.m.
Massie, in contrast, was wearing her seatbelt and sustained moderate injuries. She was transported to the same medical center by Butler County EMS. Both vehicles involved in the crash were totaled and subsequently towed from the scene.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol was supported at the scene by several officers, including Sergeant B.L. Riefle, Corporal C.E. Leach, and Trooper B.T. Hart. The investigation into the accident continues as authorities seek to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
