Fatal Donner Lake drowning death of Dominic Rossetti – Obituary.
After a three-day search, Dominic Rossetti, 30, was found deceased following a canoe accident at Donner Lake, California. On September 25, the canoe carrying Rossetti and another person capsized in the middle of the lake. Neither man was wearing a life jacket at the time of the incident.
According to Lieutenant Kyle Vickers from the Truckee Police Department, a nearby windsurfer, identified as Rossetti’s cousin, managed to rescue the other individual, but by the time help could be rendered to Rossetti, he had disappeared underwater. A search effort spanning three days involved boats, dive teams, and advanced technology such as side scan sonar and remotely operated vehicles (ROVs). Rossetti’s body was recovered from a depth of 120 feet on Saturday, September 28.
The Nevada County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Rossetti’s identity. A GoFundMe has been created to support his wife, Nina Talmadge, as she faces the unexpected loss and the associated expenses, including funeral costs. The couple had recently celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary and were planning to start a family before the tragedy.
