Boone McCrary dies in fatal Nolichucky River boating accident
Fatal Nolichucky River boating accident death of Boone McCrary – Obituary.
Boone McCrary, 32, of Greeneville, Tennessee, was found dead after a tragic boating accident on the Nolichucky River. On Friday evening, McCrary launched a boat near Bird’s Bridge, accompanied by a woman and a Labrador retriever. Shortly after, the boat was swept into the bridge and capsized, sending all three into the river. While the woman was rescued safely, McCrary and the dog were carried downstream by the strong current.
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) located and retrieved the boat and the dog on Sunday, though the dog did not survive. McCrary’s body was discovered by a search team on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, in a creek feeding into the Nolichucky River near W. Allen’s Bridge Road. TWRA extended their condolences to McCrary’s family as the investigation continues.
