Sawyer Sherk dies in fatal Snow Canyon crash
Fatal Snow Canyon crash death of Sawyer Sherk – Obituary.
Sawyer Sherk, a 19-year-old student from Utah Tech University, tragically died in a rollover accident in Snow Canyon State Park on the night of September 25. A freshman originally from Coronado, Nevada, Sherk was driving on Snow Canyon Road when the incident occurred around 10 p.m.
According to Utah State Parks spokesperson Lindsay Higbee, the vehicle was reportedly traveling at speeds between 70 mph and 100 mph before it rolled over, descending approximately 300 feet down a cliff before coming to rest in the Lava Flow Trailhead parking lot. Emergency responders had to use extraction tools to access the vehicle and provide medical assistance to the occupants.
Sadly, Sherk was pronounced dead at the scene. Another injured passenger, Kali Parkinson, a recent graduate of Fremont High School and fellow freshman at Utah Tech, was reported to have sustained injuries, while the family of the third injured teen chose to remain anonymous.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
