Manuel Martinez arrested in Santa Fe shooting
Two individuals were discovered dead inside a vehicle in Santa Fe following an apparent shooting late Monday night, September 30.
The victims have been identified as Ebony Martinez, 23, and Abraham Romo, 19. The Santa Fe Police Department received reports of loud noises under a bridge in the area of Siringo Road and Camino Consuelo just after 11:30 p.m. When officers arrived, they found a vehicle that had veered off the roadway into an arroyo.
Upon approaching the vehicle, police encountered an armed man, later identified as 23-year-old Manuel Martinez, who attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended. Inside the vehicle, authorities discovered the two deceased individuals, each with apparent gunshot wounds.
Martinez has been charged with two counts of murder, tampering with evidence, and two counts of resisting and obstructing an officer. The investigation is ongoing, but police have stated that no additional suspects are being sought. The crime scene unit has processed the area for evidence as detectives continue to investigate the homicides.
