According to the Illinois State Police, troopers arrived at the scene just before 4:30 a.m. to investigate a two-vehicle collision. A passenger vehicle had become disabled in the third lane and was subsequently hit by a semi-truck. Unfortunately, a pedestrian outside the disabled vehicle was also struck and pronounced dead at the scene. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victim as 46-year-old Robin D. Brown from South Bend, Indiana. Following the crash, traffic was heavily congested for miles, and commuters were advised to seek alternative routes.
