Authorities have identified the man who perished in a fiery collision on Interstate 65 over the weekend as Ahmed Ibrahim, 44. The incident took place just before 5 p.m. on Saturday near the Kennedy Bridge, when the driver of a semi-truck lost control for reasons that remain unclear and collided with the concrete median.
Following the crash, both the tractor and trailer ignited, trapping Ibrahim inside. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office reported that he succumbed to smoke inhalation and thermal burns.
