Fatal Hilltop neighborhood shooting death of Carlie Frizzell – Obituary.
Columbus police have confirmed the identity of a 16-year-old girl killed in what appears to be an accidental shooting in the Hilltop area. Carlie Frizzell was found suffering from a gunshot wound after officers responded to a call on South Eureka Avenue shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday night. She was quickly taken to Grant Medical Center but was pronounced dead at 11:10 p.m.
According to Columbus Police Sgt. Joe Albert, the initial 911 call suggested that Frizzell accidentally shot herself in the abdomen. Following the incident, authorities announced that they have identified a suspect known to the victim but are withholding their name pending further investigation.
Preliminary findings indicate that an unintended discharge of a firearm occurred.
