The heart-wrenching aftermath of a devastating house fire in south-west London has left a father mourning the loss of his four young boys, who perished in the blaze while their mother, Deveca Rose, was away shopping. Dalton Hoath, the boys’ father, expressed his profound sorrow after Rose was found guilty of manslaughter in connection with the tragedy.
The fire broke out while Rose left her children—two sets of twins aged three and four—unsupervised at their home. Firefighters discovered the boys, Leyton and Logan, aged three, alongside their four-year-old brothers Kyson and Bryson, beneath their beds. Despite efforts to revive them, they were pronounced dead at the hospital.
During the trial at the Old Bailey, 30-year-old Rose was acquitted of child cruelty but convicted on four counts of manslaughter. In an emotional statement, Mr. Hoath, who was not living with the boys at the time, remembered them as “young, boisterous lads,” well-mannered and deeply cherished. He recounted the dreadful moment he received an “hysterical” call from Rose, leading to a desperate rush to the smoldering home on Collingwood Road, only to face the heartbreaking news at the hospital.
