Lex Love dies in fatal New Fairview car crash
Fatal New Fairview car crash death of Lex Love – Obituary
Deputy Lex Allen Love of the Wise County Sheriff’s Office tragically lost his life in a single-vehicle accident on County Road 4421, east of U.S. 287 in New Fairview, Texas. The crash occurred Wednesday night around 8:20 p.m. as Love was responding to a call about another wreck on the same road.
While en route, Love’s vehicle collided with a concrete barrier in a construction zone. Despite nearby deputies arriving at the scene quickly and pulling him from his burning vehicle, efforts to revive him were unsuccessful. Love was rushed to Medical City Decatur, where he was later pronounced dead.
Lex Love had served with the Wise County Sheriff’s Office since 2017, starting as a jailer before becoming a deputy earlier in 2024. He was recognized for his dedication, being named WCSO Jailer of the Year in 2019 and Decatur Police Department’s Newcomer of the Year in February. His loss has left a deep void in the local law enforcement community.
A memorial has been set up outside the Wise County Law Enforcement Center to honor Deputy Love. Community members have been encouraged to leave flowers and notes for his family at the memorial site.
