A tragic accident occurred early Wednesday morning on Southern Boulevard in West Palm Beach, resulting in the death of 72-year-old John Simmons. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) reported that the incident took place around 5:15 a.m. near the Palm Beach International Airport.
Initial investigations revealed that Simmons, driving an Oldsmobile Alero, failed to notice that the outside lane was closed and obstructed by traffic cones. After colliding with two cones, he swerved left, causing his vehicle to spin across the road and crash into a tree. Despite emergency responders’ efforts, Simmons was pronounced dead at the scene, and he was alone in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
