On Saturday, two individuals lost their lives in a tragic accident in Van Zandt County. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the incident occurred on Highway 19, south of US 80. An investigation revealed that a 2014 Ford Focus was heading north on Highway 19 when it veered into the southbound lane, colliding with a 2019 Dodge Journey. The drivers of both vehicles were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford Focus has been identified as 63-year-old Karen Carlisle from Wills Point, while the Dodge Journey was driven by 24-year-old Sara Stoehr from Larue. Additionally, three children traveling in the Dodge Journey sustained injuries. The investigation remains active, and further details will be provided as they become available.
