Authorities in Gwinnett County are investigating a tragic hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of 24-year-old Mecha Woodard. The collision occurred early Friday morning near Ga. 316, specifically at the entrance ramp from Boggs Road.
Woodard had exited her vehicle on the highway and was walking in the area where the roads merge when she was struck around 4 a.m. The accident took place on a high-speed stretch of Ga. 316, just past the junction with I-85, and approximately 10 miles from the nearest traffic light.
Investigators have collected debris from the scene and determined that the suspect’s vehicle is likely a Lexus RX350 or RX450, manufactured between 2019 and 2022. The driver responsible for this incident has not yet been apprehended.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the accident to reach out to Gwinnett police detectives at 678-442-5653.
