Authorities have confirmed the identity of the pedestrian who was tragically killed in Tamarac on Tuesday morning as 59-year-old Serge Panier, a resident of Lake Worth. The incident took place around 6 a.m. at the intersection of West McNab Road and Northwest 70th Avenue. According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, Panier was crossing McNab when he was first struck by a BMW 325 CI.
The force of the collision from the BMW caused Panier to fall to the ground, where he was then struck by a second vehicle, which is thought to be a pickup truck. Witnesses reported that the BMW driver remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement, but the driver of the pickup truck fled immediately after the crash.
Emergency responders arrived promptly, but despite their best efforts, Panier was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severe injuries inflicted by both impacts. The Broward Sheriff’s Office has stated that traffic homicide detectives are actively investigating the incident, focusing on identifying the second vehicle involved and speaking with any witnesses.
