Katrina Zwolinski dies in fatal Courtice shooting
Fatal Courtice shooting death of Katrina Zwolinski – Obituary.
A 33-year-old man has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder following the tragic deaths of two women in Courtice earlier this week, as reported by Durham police. The victims have been identified as Katrina Zwolinksi, aged 30, and Laurie Crew, 67.
Authorities indicate that the suspect is the former boyfriend of Zwolinski, who was discovered deceased alongside Crew at a residence located east of Toronto on Tuesday. Fortunately, a child was also found in the home unharmed.
Officers responded to a wellness check at the Moulton Court address in Courtice, part of Clarington, around 1:10 p.m., as stated by Sgt. Joanne Bortoluss during a press briefing at the scene.
On Thursday, police confirmed in a press release that the accused is the father of the child found at the residence.
The release also highlighted the issue of intimate partner violence, explaining that it can manifest in many forms, including emotional or verbal abuse and financial control.
“Recognizing these signs is crucial. If you or someone you know is experiencing any type of intimate partner violence, it’s important to seek help. Resources are available, and you are not alone in this struggle,” the release emphasized.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist investigators.
