Lacee Kelly, 46, has been identified as the woman tragically killed while walking on a sidewalk in Salt Lake City on Wednesday. The incident occurred just before noon in the East Central neighborhood near 740 South and 700 East.
According to the Salt Lake City Police Department, Kelly was walking when a vehicle traveling north on 700 East lost control and struck a nearby parked car. This collision forced the parked car into Kelly, pinning her between the vehicle and a fence. Emergency responders arrived and pronounced her dead at the scene.
Following an investigation, police reported that the driver of the vehicle, a 57-year-old man, fell asleep at the wheel, leading to the crash. Authorities noted there were no signs of impairment, and the driver is cooperating with the investigation. No arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
The Salt Lake City Police Department’s Collision Analysis and Reconstruction (CAR) Team is handling the investigation, and no further information is currently available.
