Authorities in Chippewa Falls have identified the body of a missing person found at a motorcycle crash site. The search for Matthew Harshman, a 45-year-old man, commenced on October 1 after his family requested a welfare check, noting they had not heard from him since the evening of September 29.
Despite efforts to locate him on Sunday, he was reported missing when he could not be found. The Chippewa Falls Police Department immediately began utilizing all available resources for the investigation, which continued into October 2.
On that day, police discovered a crash scene around 12:22 p.m. involving a motorcycle and a deceased male off E. Park Avenue. Preliminary investigations suggested that excessive speed contributed to the fatal incident. Tragically, Harshman was pronounced dead at the crash site.
