Fatal Gray Court shooting death of Antonio Lavar Sullivan – Obituary
Laurens County authorities have confirmed the identity of the suspect who was shot and killed by law enforcement on Thursday morning in Gray Court as 37-year-old Antonio Lavar Sullivan. According to Chief Deputy Coroner Patti Canupp, Sullivan succumbed to his injuries at the scene due to a gunshot wound.
Details regarding Sullivan’s place of origin remain unclear, although he may have been from the Asheville area. The incident took place near the intersection of Lakeview Drive and Highway 101.
This shooting marks the third incident involving a Laurens County Sheriff’s Office deputy in just over a week. The previous two incidents occurred on October 2 and October 7, involving a traffic stop and a 16-year-old juvenile in a stolen vehicle, respectively.
In the October 7 incident, two suspects attempted to evade deputies when one of them, a 16-year-old male from Simpsonville, reportedly fired at the officers from inside the vehicle. This individual has since been charged with attempted murder, possession of a stolen vehicle, and additional firearm-related charges.
Braxton Mitchell, 20, of Lyman, was also arrested in connection with that incident and faces multiple charges, including attempted murder and reckless driving. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is investigating all three shootings.
