Fatal Bellflower shooting death of Tamica Gant Lawrence – Obituary.
A tragic domestic incident in Bellflower has resulted in the death of 54-year-old Tamica Gant Lawrence. She was shot and killed by her ex-boyfriend during a dispute in their apartment late Tuesday night.
The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner’s office confirmed Lawrence was pronounced dead at the scene. During the confrontation, the suspect, who had a restraining order against him, also shot Lawrence’s adult son, who sustained injuries but survived. After the shooting, the man took his own life.
Law enforcement was called to the 8500 block of Artesia Boulevard around 11:30 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, deputies found Lawrence’s son suffering from a gunshot wound. He reported that the assailant had forced his way into the apartment, attacked him, and subsequently shot Lawrence.
As deputies attended to the son, they heard another gunshot from inside the apartment. Upon entering, they discovered Lawrence with a fatal gunshot wound and the suspect, aged 59, who had inflicted a fatal wound on himself. Earlier that day, Lawrence had filed a restraining order against her ex-boyfriend at the Whittier courthouse.
The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau.
