A tragic incident at a haunted hayride in Minnesota resulted in the death of 13-year-old Alexander Mick on Saturday, October 12, 2024. Following this event, the Harvest of Horror Haunted Hayride in St. Augusta has decided to close for the remainder of the season.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the attraction after reports indicated that a young male had sustained injuries. The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office revealed that Mick, identified as a resident of Rice, was run over by a trolley wagon being towed by a tractor during the event.
Immediate assistance was provided by an off-duty police officer and a medic who were present at the scene. Despite their efforts and those of other bystanders, Mick was pronounced dead at the location.
Known affectionately as “Xander,” Mick was an 8th-grade student at Sauk Rapids-Rice Middle School, where he participated in band, choir, robotics, and soccer. His obituary describes him as a helpful, tech-savvy teenager who brought energy, humor, and a bright smile to those around him. He was also recognized for his distinctive white hair, making him easy to spot from afar.
In response to the tragedy, Harvest of Horror announced on their website that they have canceled all remaining scheduled events for the 2024 season. They expressed their deep sorrow over the incident and stated their commitment to cooperating fully with authorities, asking for support and prayers for Mick’s family and friends, as well as all individuals affected by this unfortunate event.
