Fatal Gazipur house fire death of Morshedha Begum – Obituary
A 22-year-old woman, Morshedha Begum, tragically lost her life in a house fire in Kaliakair, Gazipur, reportedly set by her ex-husband after locking her and her mother inside the home. The incident occurred around 3:00 a.m. on October 17, shortly after Morshedha had divorced her husband, Tanvir Hossain.
Fire officials stated that Morshedha’s mother, Fuljahan Begum, 40, is in critical condition with severe burns covering 65% of her body and is receiving treatment at the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn & Plastic Surgery.
Witnesses reported hearing screams during the fire, and upon arrival, they found the house ablaze and locked from the outside. Before her death, Morshedha allegedly cried out, “My husband set the fire. Please save my mother,” according to the landlord, Md Parvez.
Tanvir Hossain is currently at large, and the local police are conducting an investigation into the incident. The body of Morshedha has been sent for autopsy, and a formal case will be filed once the family provides a complaint.
