A tragic fire at a vacation rental in Clinton, New York, claimed the lives of Shannon Hubbard, 35, and her one-year-old daughter, Margaret “Maggie” Hubbard, on October 13. New York State Police responded to the emergency call around 10:40 p.m. when a man outside the home reported that his wife and children were still inside.
Firefighters entered the residence and discovered Shannon, Maggie, and their three-year-old son. While Shannon and Maggie did not survive, the three-year-old was rescued alongside Shannon’s husband, John, who is a police officer in Dennis, Massachusetts. Both were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
The family was on vacation when the fire occurred, and the cause of the blaze is still unknown. The Monomoy Regional School District, where Shannon taught preschool at Chatham Elementary School, expressed profound sorrow over her passing, pledging support for students and staff during this difficult time. Similarly, the Dennis Police Department extended condolences to John Hubbard, emphasizing their heartfelt sympathy following this devastating loss.
