Two individuals have been apprehended in upstate New York as part of the ongoing investigation into the fatal shooting of Angel Samaniego at a hotel in Connecticut earlier this week, authorities announced on Thursday. Moises Alejandro Candollo-Urbaneja, 22, and Gregory Marlyn Galindez-Trias, 24, were arrested by police in Rensselaer, near Albany, after investigators discovered “personal belongings” of the victim in their possession.
Both suspects are currently being held on a $2 million bond for possession of stolen property in New York, alongside a Stamford warrant for first-degree larceny linked to the theft of Samaniego’s vehicle following the homicide, as stated in a Thursday morning update from the Stamford Police Department.
Police were dispatched to the Super 8 Hotel on Grenhart Road shortly after 10:30 a.m. on Monday in response to reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, first responders found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim, later identified as the 59-year-old Samaniego, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Stamford Police.
An autopsy conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed that Samaniego died from a gunshot wound. Capt. Thomas Scanlon and Lt. Douglas Deiso from the Bureau of Criminal Investigations reported that medical examiners classified the death as a homicide.

Candollo-Urbaneja and Galindez-Trias are anticipated to appear in court on Thursday.
