Tyreek Lemar Vincent, a 22-year-old man from Newport News, has been confirmed dead following a murder investigation, and authorities have arrested Azbel Saralegi, 35, in connection with his death.

Newport News Police announced that Saralegi was arrested on October 12 and has been charged with first-degree murder along with multiple firearms offenses. His arrest is linked to the discovery of Vincent’s remains last week, which were found buried in Hampton after a police investigation into his disappearance.
Vincent was last seen on September 20 around 32nd Street and Chestnut Avenue. Prior to being located, he had been reported missing, and police were actively searching for him due to concerns for his safety, particularly because he had outstanding warrants. Investigators believe that Vincent was murdered the night he was last seen.
A tip during the investigation led detectives to Dafia Drive, where they uncovered Vincent’s body. Court documents reveal that two inmates at the Newport News City Jail provided crucial information regarding the case. They reported that Saralegi had been involved in luring Vincent to a residence on 32nd Street in exchange for crack cocaine. One inmate recalled Saralegi saying, “not to ask about Mr. Vincent, as he was ‘gone.'”
Additionally, witnesses indicated they had seen Saralegi cleaning blood from a bathroom and reported finding cartridge casings. Evidence recovered by police, including a firearm believed to be the weapon used in the murder and bloody materials, suggests that multiple individuals assisted in concealing Vincent’s body.
Saralegi’s criminal history includes convictions for grand larceny in 2015 and carjacking in 2017. He is set to appear in Newport News General District Court on October 30.
The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to gather information and seek any additional individuals involved in this case.
